Chevrolet Hood Ornaments
In 1909 William
Durant, of Flint, Michigan, asked
Louis Chevrolet to help him design a new car. By 1911 the
Chevrolet Motor Car Company was formed. Durant envisions his new company as an inexpensive
competitor to Ford. The name Chevrolet was chosen because Louis Chevrolet was already a well known name in motor racing. In 1912 the first Chevrolet rolled off the line in Detroit - a five passenger touring sedan.
Chevrolet has introduced many successful models, some of the more notable are - Fleetmaster, Styleline, Bel Air, Impala, Biscayne, Brookwood, El Camino, Nomad, Kingswood, Corvette, Parkwood, Corvair, Monza, Nova, Chevelle, Malibu, Camero, Vega, Monte Carlo, and Caprice. The prominent hood ornaments of the 1940's and 50's, had all but vanished by the 1960's.![]() |
